Our class of '55 celebrated our 55th reunion on Saturday, Sept. 4th "close beside the Allegheny" at the Baja Grille of the Yacht Club. It was unexpectedly cool after all the 90 degree weather we had been having and slightly windy, but our hearty group decided to stay outside for dinner.

It was wonderful to see our old buddies again, but a smaller attendance than we had hoped for our 55th.

Cari (McQuaid) Thomas came the farthest---from Santa Barbara, CA. Betty (Erwin) Gertner and her husband, Will, came from Altoona, and Gene Consolo and Rege Kane & his wife, Mary, came up from Florida. Jack Thomas came from Louisiana.

Our Pittsburgh group consisted of Salli (Hamre) Lodge and husband, Buzz, Sally (Bollinger) Greulich and husband, Tom, Joe and Tillie Thomas, Bob and Norma Racki, Margie (Morcom) Hartsock and husband, Bob, Milton Ertel, Mabel Rieger, and our very dear and generous Shirley Brusco, who provided us all with delicious chocolate bars with a "custom made" wrapper with a photo of AHS on one side and the words to our Alma Mater on the other.

Once again we "belted" out the Alma Mater like we did at our 50th.

It was a fun and casual evening and almost everyone in the group attended the picnic the next day.

We had a perfect day for the picnic, much cooler than the past couple years and it was very well attended.

Two more of our classmates who were not at the dinner came for the picnic, Nancy Humes and John McRandal.

Our school spirit lives on! Even Miss Kavanagh was there.

The last class to attend Aspinwall High School was 1961, so I guess that means the youngest graduates at this year's picnic were about 66------quite a good turn out considering.

We hope those of you who had hoped to come this year, but just couldn't, will put it on your 2011 calendar that the place to be on Labor Day weekend is back in beautiful Pittsburgh reminiscing with your friends from AHS. WE MISSED YOU!
